The Candies And Delights Of Our Childhood
Close your eyes and imagine yourself as a little kid. No matter how long ago it may have been, you can never truly forget the experience. What sort of things did you like to do? Perhaps riding a bike or playing baseball in the street tickled your fancy. Maybe reading a book under your bed sheets at midnight, when you were supposed to be asleep, filled you with glee. Every little thing seemed magical, and every adventure was a significant one, even if it entailed simply walking across the street. There was so much to learn, so much to experience and feel. And what about the foods you liked to eat? Of course, vegetables can be crossed off that list. What about cookies or hot dogs, even macaroni and cheese? And then there’s something that most little kids would love to have in their tummy: Candies. Those sweet treats that let your mouth have a party and helped you forget your troubles for a little while. They could be kept in your pocket and saved for chosen occasions, shared between friends or used as something to hold when times felt bad. You could walk into a candy store and spot a Jelly Belly or bubblegum machine, and suddenly the day would be a little brighter. Well, unless somebody invents some kind of time machine, nobody will ever be able to return to childhood once it’s finally over. That does not mean that one can’t watch a TV show or hold a toy from days passed by. It does not mean that you can’t enjoy things that a child would, such as going to an amusement park or digging into an ice cream sundae. And that certainly doesn’t imply that you can’t eat your favorite candies from your childhood. That would likely be the hardest of all to give up. So, go ahead and grab a handful: you deserve it.

Taking Your Child To the Candy Store
Do you remember when you used to go with your parents to the candy store and they would let you pick out a few candy cigarettes and a few pieces of rock candy? Well, the tradition of taking your children to the candy store or letting them eat candy at all has really come under fire in the last decade. With childhood obesity on the rise, it is difficult for parents to make the decisions between having healthy kids or happy kids. We all know that candy isn’t exactly the best for our bodies, but we also know that it really does make our kids happy campers. So what can we do as parents? We can’t take the childhoods of our kids so we have to find a healthy balance between the two. We’ve all heard the phrase, “Everything in moderation,” and this holds true here as well.
We can’t keep our kids away from old fashioned candy all the time or else they may grow to resent us in the future like Johnny Deep did in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The meaning of Halloween would be completely lost on them and they might grow up into bitter rule-making adults that don’t let their kids do anything as well. Despite the health risks, it is probably a good idea to take your child to the candy store once in a while. The candy store, of course, can mean anything that might be potentially harmful to them that they also love to do. This doesn’t mean to let them run around with scissors whenever they want, but it does mean to let them have some ice cream and cartoons on Saturday morning once in a while. They get up way earlier than we do anyway. They’re just going to do it anyway when we’re still asleep.
